Deputy Supeintendent of Police Venkatarao said that some devotees from Vijayawada were crossing a local stream on foot, when they were swept away.
The deceased have been identified as Vemula Umadevi (32), Vemual Madhavi (23), Akula Kalyani (38), Mareedu Saraswati (60), Sai (15) and Lokesh (13), the police official said.
Three others who were rescued have been admitted in a private hospital in Eluru, the police official said.
