Six farmers die after suffering crop loss due to rain

Six farmers in the district have died apparently unable to bear loss of crop due to recent rains and hailstorms, but administration claimed the deaths were 'natural'.
In the first case, 72-year-old Mangu Singh of Dugrai village died in Anoopshrar tehsil, but Arun Kumar Yadav, SDM Anoopshahr, attributed the death to old age, based on the post-mortem report.
Similarly, the death of Shyam Singh (42) of Khwajpur village under Sadar Tehsil was termed as natural by Sub Divisional Magistrate Lalta Prasad Shakya, quoting the post-mortem report.
Shakya, however, agreed that 50 per cent of the crop was damaged due to rain.
In the four other cases of reported suicide, no post mortem were performed before the last rites, but the administration said the cause of death would be "investigated".
Apparently unable to bear the loss, Nannu Singh (51) of village Vijay Nagaliya and Prem Sharma (41) of Pesri village under Debai Tehsil also died.

But, after visiting the villages, Debai Tehsildar, Vijay Sharma said "the cause of death will be investigated before recommending a compensation".
Lekhraj (55) of Sawli village of Sikandrabad Tehsil also suffered crop damages due to hailstorm and rain and died on Wedenesday last, but SDM Atul Kumar, said the deceased was ill for sometime and hospitalised a couple of times earlier.
Another farmer Ajay Kumar (28) of Aurangabad, whoh adtaken loan of Rs 3 lakh from a government bank, died Tuesday morning.
Additional District Magistrate, (incharge of Natural calamity) Ram Kesh Singh when contacted said that the things were yet being assessed.
