Six fire incidents in national capital; one killed

An elderly man died and seven persons including six children were injured in six separate incidents of fire in the national capital since yesterday.
The first case was reported in north Delhi's Civil Lines area, where the third floor of a three-storeyed building caught fire.
"Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot which doused the fire in half an hour, after which the charred body of one Naredra Singh Rawat was recovered. He lived alone in the room and worked as a servant for one Dev, who runs an exhibition centre in Delhi," a senior police official said.
Police is suspecting that the blaze might have been triggered due to a cigarette ember as Rawat was a "habitual smoker".

In another incident yesterday, a woman, her four daughters and two sons were injured after their house in outer Delhi's Narela caught fire. The neighbours informed police and fire department personnel rushed to the spot and rescued people trapped in the house.
The woman and her five children who suffered injuries were taken to a nearby hospital. Her 11-year-old son was referred to LNJP hospital and his condition was said to be critical.

In a separate case, four horses were also charred to death in a dense JJ cluster in southeast Delhi's Madanpur Khadar area last night.
At least 17 fire tenders were rushed to the spot the douse the flames. "It took three hours to douse the fire. Around 148 huts were gutted and four horses, which were tied with metallic ropes, their charred bodies have been recovered," a senior fire department official said, adding, short circuit is being suspected as the cause behind the fire.

In the fourth incident, a cluster bus caught fire while it was heading towards Shiavji stadium in central Delhi today afternoon.
"At least 15 passengers were sitting inside it when its driver spotted a smoke coming out from the engine. He parked the bus and asked the commuters to get off from the vehicle.
"Two fire tenders reached the spot and doused the fire," the official said.
Also a garment shop was gutted into fire caused due to short circuit in north Delhi's Tri Nagar area whereas a minor fire incident was reported in the iron pipes near Akshardham Temple on yesterday. According to police, the fire occurred due to some combustible material near the pipes.
