Six fishermen who were stranded in the mid sea in Odisha after their boat developed a technical snag have been rescued by the Coast Guard, officials said today.
The fishing boat Mahadeva-I carrying six crew members was stranded at sea off Devi river confluence near Puri district on Saturday.
The boat was unable to sustain due to severe weather conditions and rough sea created by low pressure in the Bay of Bengal, officials said.
A Coast Guard ship 'Amogh' was sent to rescue the distressed boat. It was brought to Paradip yesterday.
All six crew members of the fishing boat are safe and being provided with food and other assistance by the Coast Guard, they added.
