The accident occurred at around 6.30 AM on the outskirts of Eklaspur village under Manthani police station limits, about 70 kms from here, when the pilgrims from Wanaparthi in Mahabubnagar district were on their way to take a holy dip in Godavari river at Kaleshwaram as a part of the Pushkaram festival, Circle Inspector Prabhakar said.
The speeding vehicle rammed into a tree near the village killing six persons on the spot, including a woman and two children aged one and four, he said.
The bodies, yet to be identified, have been sent for postmortem to government hospital at Manthani, they added.
