Police SI (Intelligence section) Chandru said the third and fourth floor collapsed around 8.10 pm and six persons were injured.
Being an old building not many people were staying in it. The first and ground floors were not occupied.
The injured have been admitted to hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger.
Fire force and police personnel are searching the debris to trace if anyone has been trapped underneath.
