VHP and Bajrang Dal had organised a programme at Puttur, about 50 km from here, and violence erupted at nearby Karaya with stone pelting near a place of worship. People belonging to the other community claimed they were attacked first.
Police intervened and chased away the violent crowd which
tried to block the road, police said.
The injured have been admitted to a hospital at Puttur.
