Six killed, 24 injured as marriage party meets with accident

Six persons were killed and 24 others seriously injured when a bus carrying a marriage party fell into a roadside ditch today in Buxar district, about 140 kms west from the state capital.
Buxar District Magistrate (DM) Raman Kumar said the accident occured near Nikarit village and the dead have been identified as Annu Kumar Rai (50), Akhilesh Kumar Rai (55), Viku Rai (16), Avinash Kumar Rai (17), Akhilesh Kumar Rai (30) and helper of the bus Ghanshyam Lal (30).
"The marriage party had come to Buxar district headquarters and was returning to Dehri-on-Sone in Rohtas district after the ceremony was over. The driver seems to have lost control of the vehicle on the Buxar-Kochas road and it fell into a roadside ditch," Kumar said.

The DM added that 14 of the injured were in a critical condition and they have been referred by doctors to Varanasi in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh for better treatment. The bodies have been sent for postmortem.
