At least six persons have been killed and six others remain missing after week-long heavy rains devastated China's southwest Sichuan Province.
The rainstorms battered the eastern, middle and southern areas of Sichuan from September 8 to 15, with a total rainfall of over 400 mm in five counties, said officials at the Sichuan Provincial Flood Control Headquarters.
Some areas reported record-high precipitation during the same period. Power, roads, communications and crops were damaged by the rainstorms.
Six people were killed and six others remain missing after rainstorms ravaged the Province, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.
The prolonged rainy weather has affected over 2.5 million people in 40 counties, with 160,000 people evacuated in advance, they said, adding that disaster relief work is underway.
