Six persons arrested for question paper leak in Odisha

The Crime Branch of Odisha Police today arrested six persons including four cops on charge of leaking the question paper for constable recruitment, held on March 15.
"The Crime Branch has arrested six persons including four police personnel in connection with the question paper leak incident. All the arrested persons have been forwarded to the court. Two other persons comprise one civilian and a candidate for the constable post," Crime Branch (CB) Additional DG B K Sharma told reporters.
Sharma said the first batch of arrest was made on the basis of evidences and witnesses.
"This is just beginning of the investigation, more people may be nabbed," Sharma said adding that other links were being explored.
The CB is planning to take three persons into remand for further interrogation, he said.
The arrested persons include Kishore Kumar Mohanty, the general secretary of Odisha Police-Sepoy Sangh.

The constable examination was conducted by State Selection Board headed by an additional DGP at 31 venues across the state. After reports of question paper leak surfaced, the test was cancelled at the last minute leaving thousands of aspirants shattered.
As per reports, nearly 40,000 candidates had applied for the 1,300 odd constables' posts on offer.
The probe was handed over to the Crime Branch the same day by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik who on March 15 announced in the assembly that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the incident.
The constable recruitment process started on January 15 in 30 police districts and the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate. The candidates who qualified in the physical test were scheduled to appear for the written examination on March 15.
