Six persons dead in two accidents in Chhattisgarh

Six people were killed and as many injured Sunday in two road accidents in Dhamtari and Surajpur districts of Chhattisgarh, police said.

In the first incident, three persons, including two women, were killed when their motorcycle collided with a truck near Chhati village on the Raipur-Dhamtari road in Dhamtari district.

Those killed were identified as Tara Shinde (40), Triveni Bai Pawar (60) and Rinku Dewangan (20), all residents of Raipur, police said, adding that the truck driver fled from the scene of the accident.

In the other incident which took place near Shivnagar in Surajpur district, an SUV overturned after a rear tyre burst, killing three occupants and injuring six others.

Police said Bikesh Agrawal (30) and Bhimsen Uraon (55) died on the spot while Walsai Khalko (60) succumbed at a nearby hospital.

The victims, all from Korba district, were heading to visit a religious place in Udaipur development block of Ambikapur district when the mishap occurred, police said.

The injured are being treated at Udaipur community health centre, police added.
