Six persons, including SP councillor, injured in firing in UP

Six persons, including a Samajwadi Party councillor, were injured when a group of youths allegedly opened fire at them in Ikram Nagar colony here, police said today.
Following the incident an accused, Kuckoo, has been arrested today, while five others are still at large.
The incident occurred last night under Loni Kotwali area when thes youths were drinking liquor at a vacant plot of land near the house of councillor Hasmuddin, Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Yadav said.
They were scolded and driven away by Hasmuddin's younger brother but they returned a few minutes later and opened fire from country-made pistols, injuring six persons, including the councillor, Yadav said.
An FIR was lodged against five accused, Kuckoo, Shaukin, Sagheer, Nasim and Farooq, under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapons), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offence committed in prosecution of common object), 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
