Six stranded fishermen rescued off Nagapattinam coast

Six fishermen from Ramanathapuram stranded in sea near here after their newly purchased boat developed a snag were today rescued by Coastal Security Group (CSG) police personnel.
The fishermen from Ramanathapuram had purchased a fibreglass boat here and were returning to their home town in the vessel when it developed a snag a few knots off this town coast, police said.
The fishermen made a distress call to CSG helpline following which the personnel of Nagapattinam Station rushed and rescued them.
They also brought the boat back to the shore, police added.
