Jeevan of Tamil Nadu dispatched his unseeded state-mate 6-2 6-2 at RK Khanna stadium here.
Second seed VM Ranjeet also made it to the second round after his opponent Rajat Maheshwari retired when the former champion was leading 6-0.
The other men's singles matches, however, saw some upsets with unseeded Tejas Chaukalkar outplaying seventh seed Abhijeet Tiwari 6-3 6-3, and another unseeded player, Mohit Mayur Jayaprakash beating eighth seed Chandril Sood 6-2 7-6.
Meanwhile, in the women's singles, the top seeded players entered into the second round without much trouble.
While third seed Natasha Palha registered 6-1 6-3 win over Amrita Mukerjee, fourth seed Shweta C Rana defeated Shreya Pasricha 6-4 6-4 and fifth seed Eetee Mehta thrashed Natallia Khanijo 6-1 6-0.
Eetee will meet Sonal Phadke, who entered the second round after her rival Anushka Bhargawa retired. When Anushka retired, the match was locked at one-set all with Sonal leading 3-2 in the third set.

Natasha Palha will next take on Damini Sharma, who was stretched to limit before she finally managed to get past Manya Nagpal with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 win.
Sixth seed Srivaishnavi Peddireddy outplayed Nehal Sahni 6-1 6-3, while 8th seed Vaniya Dangwal outshone Niku Amin 6-2 6-2.
Delhi girl Tarranum Handa made her way into the second round with a 6-2 6-0 win over Abhilasha Ahuja, while Megha Sehrawat defeated Disha Saigal.
