Sizzling heat prevails in Haryana, Punjab; Narnaul hottest

Haryana and Punjab continued to sizzle under severe heatwave conditions, with Narnaul being recorded as the hottest place in the two states today.
As the mercury continued its upward rise, Narnaul, Hisar, Patiala and Chandigarh recorded the season's hottest day so far.
Unbearable heat swept Narnaul in Haryana, which once again turned out to be the hottest place in the two states at a maximum of 45.5 degrees Celsius, eight notches more than normal limits, a MeT Department official said here.
Hisar too reeled under severe heat with the maximum temperature settling at 45 degrees Celsius, seven notches above the season's normal.
Ambala and Karnal recorded seven degrees above normal maximum temperature at 42 and 42.8 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Chandigarh recorded the season's hottest day so far at a maximum of 41.6 degrees Celsius, which was eight degrees above normal limits.

Intense heat prevailed in Amritsar, where the mercury touched 43 degrees Celsius, eight degrees above normal.
Ludhiana, too, had a hot day at 43.1 degrees Celsius, up seven notches against normal, while Patiala sizzled at 43.7 degrees Celsius, eight degrees above normal.
According to the MeT forecast, there is a possibility of thunder storm accompanied with a squall having wind speed exceeding 45 kmph at isolated places on April 22 and 23 in Haryana and Punjab.
