Skyscanner eyes 40 mn users from India by end of 2017

Global travel search portal Skyscanner is targeting four-fold jump in the number of users from India to 40 million by the end of 2017 for which it will increase coverage for international travels and provide enhanced options of domestic flights and hotels.
The company had around 10 million users from India visiting it's site in 2014.
"We are looking to increase the number of people using our site from India to around 40 million by end of 2017. Around 10 million people from the country visited our site in 2014," Skyscanner CEO and Co-founder Gareth Williams told PTI.
The company is witnessing one of the fastest growth rates in India, he said, adding that it grew 145 per cent in March 2015 as compared to the same month last year.
Outlining the company's strategy, he said: "We are concentrating on increasing coverage of international travellers, deeper coverage for domestic travellers for flights and hotels in India."
Williams further said: "We will also be increasing product localisation, while adding other forms of transportation such as rail travel."

Other steps being taken are marketing initiatives such as second year partnership with Delhi Daredevils team for the IPL, he added.
Elaborating the company's targets, he said: "Our aim is to become the most trusted, the most used travel service for flights and hotels in India."
Commenting on the growing importance of the Asia-Pacific region for the company, Skyscanner Asia Pacific General Manger Andy Sleigh said: "The region contributes about 20 per cent to the company's global traffic."
Globally, the company had posted USD 150 million in revenue last year.
Founded in 2003, Skyscanner currently employs around 600 people from more than 50 different countries in its offices in the UK, Singapore, Beijing, Shenzhen, Miami, Barcelona, Sofia and Budapest.
