Police in Nalgonda district of Telangana today registered a case against the five slain terror suspects including alleged founder of militant group Tehreek-Ghalba-e-Islam Viquar Ahmed alias Ali Khan.
The police claimed these men were involved in attacks on policemen here as well as in Ahmedabad in Gujarat in the past.
Based on the complaint of reserve sub-inspector Uday Bhaskar, a case of attempt to murder and other relevant offences under the IPC and the Arms Act was registered.
"The case was registered by Alair police based on the complaint of RSI as the (slain) assailants had fired at him. The matter needs to be verified," Nalgonda district superintendent of police Vikram Jeet Duggal told PTI.
Viquar Ahmed, Syed Amjad Ali, Mohammed Zakir, all residents of Hyderabad, Mohammed Haneef alias Dr Haneef, a native of Ahmedabad and Izhar Khan, a native of Uttar Pradesh, were shot dead by the police yesterday when they allegedly tried to escape from a police van near Tangutur in Nalgonda district.
They were being taken to a court in Hyderabad from the Warangal Central Prison.

According to the police, Viquar Ahmed asked to stop the van to attend the nature's call. After returning to the van, he snatched the Insas rifle of one of the police constables and opened fire.
The other four also tried to snatch weapons of accompanying policemen, and were killed when the police fired in self defence.
The five had formed a radical terrorist organisation called Tahreek Galba-e-Islam (TGI). Police today said they were involved in four incidents of firing on police in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
