Wife of a CRPF jawan, killed in a Maoist ambush in Bijapur district of Chhattishgarh, has begun a dharna at her native village demanding that her husband be honoured by the government.
Dilip Kumar, of 168 CRPF battalion and a native of Dumri village in Chandauli district, was killed by Maoist.
Manju Devi started the dharna last night, demanding that the Chief Minister either pay a visit or send a representative to the village to honour her husband.
District Magistrate Shambhu Nath said a memorial was being constructed in the jawan's name and a pukka road would be built to the village. Manju Devi demanded she also be provided help by the government.
"I have requested for compensation to be given to her from the government," the DM said. "We are also trying our best to provide her financial as well as moral support," he added. As Dilip belonged to Central Reserve Police Force so a government job would be provided to his wife by the central government, Nath said.
