The health condition of one of the conjoined twins from Odisha, whose heads were separated at AIIMS in New Delhi, was gradually improving though he is still in ventilation, while there was not much change in the state of his brother, state minister Pratap Jena said here.
The 28-month-old twins, who were joined at their heads, - an extremely rare condition - had undergone a marathon surgery conducted by a team of 30 doctors. The surgery had begun on October 25 and ended the next day.
The Odisha Health and Family Welfare Minister said Jaga, whose condition was stated to be very critical during the marathon surgery, has started physical movement.
"Jaga has started movement of his hands and legs. He also opened his eye and is gradually getting normal," Jena told reporters.
But there was not much improvement in the health condition of Kalia, he said.
"We are optimistic that by the grace of Lord Jagannth there will be improvement in his (Kalia's) health condition too in the next couple of days," Jena said adding he next 15 days would be crucial for the twin brothers from Kandhamal district.
He said the children were under round the clock observation at the AIIMS ICU and a team of specialist doctors have been engaged on duty from them.
