Slovenian newcomer Miro Cerar wins snap vote: exit poll

The party of Slovenian political newcomer Miro Cerar, a law professor, won snap elections today with 36.9 per cent of the vote, exit polls released by private POP TV showed.
The main centre-right Slovenian Democratic Party, whose leader Janez Jansa is serving a two-year prison term for corruption, garnered 19.2 per cent while outgoing prime minister Alenka Bratusek's party barely entered parliament with 4.7 per cent, the poll said.
"This results are good. Let's wait for the official ones," Cerar said in a first reaction to the exit poll results, adding that victory would represent "a very big responsibility that will require big efforts from us."

Slovenia's pensioners' party DESUS came in third with 9.3 per cent, followed by a small extraparliamentary party, United Left, which won a surprising 7.1 percent of the vote.
The first partial official results were expected late today.
