Smallest batch of 371 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

The smallest batch of this year's Amarnath Yatra, comprising 371 pilgrims, today left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu for twin base camps of Amarnath cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalayas amidst tight security.
A total of 371 pilgrims, including 245 men, 74 women and 32 sadhus left in a cavalcade of eight vehicles from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp for Pahalgam and Baltal base camps in Kashmir this morning, a police officer said.
This was the smallest batch of pilgrims to leave the Bhagwati Nagar base camp ever since the Yatra started on July 2 this year, the officer said.
Yesterday 1,546 pilgrims paid obeisance at the holy cave.
Till date 2,10,179 Yatris have paid obeisance at the Amarnath cave shrine.
