A parcel emitting smoke and sparks in a post office in Ahmedabad caused panic among the staff there, following which police and Forensic Laboratory personnel were called in to probe the incident, an official said Monday.
The parcel was sent from Anjar in Kutch district to Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh but was returned from the consignee address, he said, adding that the incident happened on Sunday night.
"Primary investigation carried out by police and FSL team has revealed that the parcel contained inflammable material used in making firecrackers. Nobody was hurt in the incident," DCP Niraj Badgujar said.
