Actress-politician Smriti Irani turned down a role in Ekta Kapoor's promotional series 'Ek Thi Naayika' since she was reluctant to portray a courtesan onscreen.
Now, Sakshi Tanwar will play the character, while Smriti will feature in another story in the same show.
'Ek Thi Naayika' is a thrilling eight-part promotional series for Vishal Bhardwaj and Balaji Motion Pictures' upcoming supernatural thriller - 'Ek Thi Daayan.'
"Yes, it is true. Smriti was not comfortable playing a nautch girl in the series. So, now the story will be shot with Sakshi," said Tanuj Garg, CEO Balaji Telefilms.
'Ek thi Naayika' will also feature six other top TV actresses including Aamna Sharif, Mauli Ganguly, Shweta Tiwari, Kritika Kaamra, Pooja Gaur and Ankita Lokhande.
The show will air from March 9 on Life OK.
