Soon after receiving information about transportation of bovine animals towards Kashmir Valley, Police set up a check post near Ramsoo on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway in the district today, police said.
During checking, the police intercepted a truck, which was illegally transporting 23 bovine animals from Jammu to Kashmir Valley, the source said.
The driver of the vehicle identified as Gogar Ahmed has been arrested and the vehicle along with 23 bovine animals seized, they said, adding, a case has been registered.
Meanwhile, police also arrested drug peddler, Kamal Kishore, along with eight bottles of illicit liquor near Tehsil office at Banihal in the same district.
A case under Excise Act has been registered against the accused, police said. PTI AB DK
