Smuggler held with fake notes

Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) today arrested a smuggler with fake Indian currency notes with face value of Rs 3.38 lakh from a bus near Matiyarwa Chown in Areraj police station area in Bihar's East Champaran district, an official said.
Acting on a specific intelligence, DRI officials arrested the smuggler Dilip Kumar (23) from Areraj-bound private bus and recovered the haul of fake currency notes with face value of Rs 3.38 lakh comprising 328 pieces in denomination of 1000 and 20 pieces of 500 denomination, the DRI Deputy Director Vidyut Vikas said.
A resident of Dakshin Teluan villge under Nautan police station area of neighbouring West Champaran district, the smuggler had brought the consignment of fake notes from Bangladesh in association with members of a syndicate running smuggling of counterfeit notes, he said.
Kumar confessed to the interrogators that he had smuggled four consignments of fake currency notes of face value of more than Rs. One Crore and circulated the same in Bihar, Jharkhand, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and U.P, the DRI official said.
