SNA demands extension of upper age limit for govt jobs

Welcoming the Odisha government's decision to enhance the ratio of reservation for scheduled tribe and scheduled caste students in higher education to 38.75 per cent, Samajika Nyaya Abhijan (SNA) today demanded extension of upper age limit for government jobs to 42 years.
"We are not making any abnormal demand. The upper age limit for government jobs is 45 years in Himachal Pradesh, while it is 40 years in Haryana and Uttarakhand. We demand the upper age limit to be 42 years," SNA state president Akshya Kumar Mallick told reporters here.
He said presently, the upper age limit for government jobs for general category candidates was 32 years and five years relaxation for the candidates belonging to ST, SC and women.

The state government should also increase the reservation ratio for students belonging to other backward caste category as it has done in case of ST and SC students, Mallick said adding, 27 per cent need to be reserved for OBCs and proportionately for the minorities.
Demanding provision of creating panel for recruitment of junior engineers, Mallick said the Odisha Reservation Act should be amended to provide special recruitment for candidates belonging to ST and SC categories.
