Snehadevi Reddy produced her best performance of the season by reaching the singles semifinals of the USD 10,000 ITF women's event in Santa Margherita Di Pula even as Karman Kaur Thandi was ousted from the clay court tournament in Italy, today.
Second seed Snehadevi rallied to beat fifth seed Swiss Tess Sugnaux 3-6 7-6(3) 6-2 in the quarterfinal match that was fought for two hours and 53 minutes.
The 19-year-old Indian, who won one ITF singles title last season in Hyderabad, has another Swiss as her opponent in Jessica Crivelletto, who trounced Russia's Anastasia Chikalkina 6-2 6-0.
In another quarterfinal, India's sixth seed Karman lost 5-7 2-6 to unseeded Italian Anna Turati, ending the hopes of an all-Indian summit clash.
Meanwhile, Snehadevi and Karman, seeded second, lost the doubles semifinal 4-6 3-6 to Italian pair of Veronica Napolitano and Anna-Giulia Remondina.
