The endangered snow leopard has been chosen as the mascot for an all-India police archery meet which gets underway tomorrow.
The snow cat, popularly known as 'shan' in the Ladakh region, is found in the upper Himalayas, an area which is patrolled by personnel of Indo-Tibetan Border Police.
ITBP, which guards the Indo-China frontier, has designed the mascot for the 2nd All India Police Archery Championship, 2013-14.
The meet is to be held at the ITBP campus at Saboli with Haryana Governor Jagannath Pahadia set to inaugurate the event tomorrow.
Two hundred and fifty archers from the various central armed police forces and state police agencies will be taking part in the five-day event, which concludes on February 21.
