Snowfall, rain in parts of Himachal

High altitude areas in Himachal today received fresh spell of moderate snowfall while lower hills were lashed by scattered rains, even as the mercury rose marginally in few regions of the state.
Rohtang Pass (13,050 ft) received 30 cm of snow, while Udaipur, Keylong and Kalpa recorded 19 cm, 15 cm and 4 cm of snow, according to local MeT department.
The sprawling Dhauladhar ranges, Churdhar ranges and Chansel, Saach, Kunzam and Pin Parvati passes also experienced fresh snow.
Rains lashed parts of Chamba, Kullu, Shimla and Sirmaur districts.
State capital Shimla was lashed by strong velocity winds, accompanied by sharp showers early this morning and recorded 1.5 mm rains.
Tissa and Saloni recorded 19 mm and 13 mm rains while key tourist of Manali had 9 mm rains.

Mercury rose marginally due to clouded sky in the tribal areas and Keylong recorded a low of minus 0.1 degree against minus 4.1 degree yesterday.
Shimla, which was hottest during the night yesterday with a low of 8.0 degree, recorded minimum temperature at 4.2 degree Celsius today.
Kalpa recorded minimum temperature at zero degree while Manali recorded a low of 3.6 degree followed by Sundernagar 5.0 degree, Bhuntar 7.2 degree, Palampur 8.0 degree and Nahan 10.0 degree.
The local MeT office has predicted dry weather in the region and rains or snow at isolated places in the region on January 7, 8 and 9.
The maximum day temperatures rose by few notches and Una was hottest in the region with a high of 24.2 degree, while Sundernagar recordedmaximum temperature at 23.3 degree, followed by Solan 21.0 degree, Bhuntar 20.4 degree, Nahan 20.2 degree, Dharamsala 16.4 degree, Shimla 15.5 degree and Kalpa 10.0 degree Celsius.
