Social reformer Mumtaz Ali Khan, popularly known as Sri M, who is on a 7,500-km pan-India 'Walk of Hope', crossed the 3,000-km mark today as he met social activist Anna Hazare at Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra.
Sri M, who set out on the march on January 12, is carrying the message of communal peace and harmony, said a release sent by his followers.
Hazare welcomed him in Ralegan Siddhi and walked with him for nearly one km, it said.
Sri M invited Hazare to join him at Srinagar where the walk would end.
"I appreciate Sri M's effort to spread the message of peace and harmony in the country by meeting people and touching each and everyone's life by his walk," the release quotes Hazare as saying.
Sri M started from Kanyakumari on January 12 and passed through Kochi, Kanhagad, Bengaluru, Belgaum, Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur, Pandharpur, Pune and Alandi.
In Pune, Sri M and his followers visited the German Bakery site and paid homage to the victims of bomb blast of February 13, 2010 there in which 17 people were killed.
His next halt would be Nashik and later Shirdi before entering Gujarat where he would visit Godhra, the site of 2002 train-burning incident which set off communal riots.
The march will take him through Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana and Punjab before reaching Srinagar.
