The Commission would make its recommendations to the Centre for additions or removal of certain communities (from backward classes), a Telangana Government release here quoted NCBC Chairman Justice V Eswaraiah as saying during a three-day public hearing held by the panel in the state.
He felt that the Commission should be given powers for verifying whether the 27 per cent reservation for backward classes is being implemented properly or not.
The Commission favoured providing better facilities for the welfare of people of nomadic communities, he said, adding caste discrimination has come down in society to a great extent.
The NCBC would submit a report to the Centre on its hearing in Telangana, Eswaraiah added.
