The Airbus 340 flight bound for home carrying 180 passengers and a crew of eleven onboard made an emergency landing at the Melbourne Airport half an hour after take-off after a flight attendant found the suspicious object towards the rear of the plane, Herald Sun reported.
"The object was a soft drink can with the word bomb written on it," a Victorian police statement said.
The bomb scare triggered a full scale alarm at the airport with emergency crews rushing to the aircraft which was guided to a secluded bay and later intensely searched by police and security agencies.
Passengers were ferried off the plane which was locked-down.
No arrest has been made in this connection.
