Software engineer held hostage, robbed at gunpoint

A 33-year-old software engineer was allegedly held hostage by three armed persons, who robbed him of his car, cash, valuables and ATM card, police said today.
The accused attacked Abhishek Nigam, a resident of Vaishali sector 6, when he stopped his car near a road-side shop in Indirapuram area near St Thomas Public school to purchase cigarette last night, they said.
The accused, who were in a car, parked their vehicle near Nigam's car and caught hold the software engineer, police said.
According to the complaint, two of the armed persons got inside Nigam's car and directed him to drive the vehicle.
Nigam was taken to an isolated location, where the accused thrashed and robbed the software engineer of his purse and gold ring, police said, adding he was kept hostage for 30 minutes.
They also snatched the ATM card of the software engineer and forced him to reveal the password.

After dumping Nigam near Khoda Khurd area, the two youths who were in his car fled in the vehicle, they said.
Nigam claimed that later he got a message on his mobile phone about the withdrawal of Rs 15,000 from his bank account through the ATM card.
A manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused, Station House Officer, Indirapuram Rajesh Dwivedi, said.
