A day after around 183 bags of soil totalling 4,000 metric tonnes were found in packed wheat bags at a warehouse here, the Madhya Pradesh Warehousing Corporation has called for filing an FIR against the warehouse owner.
The bags filled with soil were found during inspection of Kartar Warehouse in Phanda area by Corporation Managing Director, Arun Pandey yesterday.
Pandey has instructed the official concerned to file an FIR against the owner, a Public Relation Department official said today.
Though the number of bags containing soil was less as compared to the total stock, the government has taken a serious view of the matter as it amounts to irregularity, he said.
Those who are responsible for it will be punished after investigation and an FIR will be filed so that recovery could be made from the persons concerned.
The Corporation MD said instructions were issued by the Chief Minister and Food and Civil Supplies minister to supply good quality wheat via the Public Distribution System (PDS).
The quality is checked at many levels in the PDS. Wheat is supplied to fair price shops after checking each and every bag taken from the warehouse, Pandey said, adding that the system will be improved further at warehouse level.
