Solar Energy Enclave inaugurated at IIT-Kanpur

To encourage research in alternative sources of energy, Solar Energy Research Enclave has been set up at Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur.
Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIT-K, M Anandkrishnan inaugurated the building, a first of its kinds in an educational institute in the country, in which the solar energy plant provides 250 units of power.
On the occasion Director-IIT Kanpur Indranil Manna said that with the combined efforts of Department of Science and Technology (DST), IIT Kanpur and support from Britain, the solar energy enclave has been established.
Scientists believe that commercially viable solar energy equipments should be prepared. The responsibility of this project has been taken by Dean R&D Prof A K Chaturvedi and Prof Monica Katiyar.
They have assured that through this enclave, students will learn new things and several researches will be encouraged.
