A vehicle carrying six solar lamps was today seized from adjoining Seraikela-Kharswan district and a case of violation of the Model Code of Conduct was slapped against the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantrik).
"We have seized a vehicle carrying six solar lamps in Nimdih block, which fall under Ranchi parliamentary seat. Prima facie it seems to be a case of violation of the code of conduct," Sub-divisional Police Officer (Chandil), Vimal Kumar said.
Sub-divisional Officer (Chandil), Manjunath Bhajantri said the solar lamps were being taken for installation at Nimdih under the MLA Development Fund.
Bhajantri said that the local MLA had installed solar lamps in the area in the past.
A case under section 171(E) and 188 IPC and section 123(1) of Representation of People Act,1951, was registered, he said.
On interrogation, the four persons in the vehicle told police that did not know the purpose the solar lamps were meant for.
