The arrest of two Public Works Department (PWD) engineers by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) highlights the nexus of ministers, engineers and contractors, former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya alleged here today.
Executive engineer Satish Chikhlikar and sectional engineer Jagdish Wagh were caught on April 30 while accepting bribe of Rs 22,000 from a road contractor to clear his pending payment with the PWD.
In a letter to DGP (ACB) Raj Khilnani, Somaiya said the Nashik incident has shown "involvement and connivance of higher ups in the PWD contract/kickbacks."
Despite such a major development, where crores of rupees have been recovered, there is still no involvement of RBI, Income Tax and ED in the case, he said.
"We request that drastic action should be taken at higher levels on involvement of ministers, engineers and contractors," Somaiya wrote to Khilnani.
