Somalian woman accuses compatriot of rape

A 25-year old Somalian woman has accused her compatriot, who was known to her, of trying to rape her in North Delhi's Timarpur area following which he was arrested, police said today.
According to the police, the incident took place on Friday night when the victim had gone to meet the accused, whom she knew for quite some time, at his residence nearby.
"As per the victim's statement, the accused Mahad Yusuf Nawale (22) tried to rape her when she was at his residence. She somehow managed to flee from his clutches after hitting him with something," said a police official.

She then approached police which filed a case of attempt to rape in this connection at Timarpur police station. "Following the complaint, Yusuf was arrested and he has been sent to judicial custody by a court," the official said.
