Delhi's controversial Law Minister Somnath Bharti, who has been under severe attack over his alleged role in a midnight raid, today sought to differ on President Pranab Mukherjee's comment on "populist anarchy" and wondered whether AAP's actions can be compared to 1984 and 2002 riots.
Bharti tweeted, "If AAP actions were Anarchy, what would Hon President consider 1984 and 2002 riots as? Agitation? Lol. A good joke Mr President !!! kamdar (sic)."
Later, he, deleted the posts following criticism.
Aam Aadmi Party yesterday acknowledged that Mukherjee's remarks that "populist anarchy" cannot be a substitute for governance may be a reference to them, saying the party will carefully consider whatever he has said.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said the President's speech had generated a debate whether staging a protest by a Chief Minister was constitutional or unconstitutional.
He had re-tweeted a post by noted filmmaker Shekhar Kapur.
"Dear Mr President. Activism and Anarchy are not the same. Anarchy was 1984 when mobs went on rampage killing Sikhs. Provoked by State n Police...," Kapur tweeted.
