BJP's Sonaram Choudhary, whose candidature had riled Jaswant Singh and his supporters, today filed nomination papers from Barmer Lok Sabha constituency and claimed the veteran leader had not decided on his constituency till one month back.

"Development in Gujarat is a model for the country and I am confident that the party will form government at the Centre. There is no doubt about a Modi wave," he told reporters after filing his nomination.

District Collector Bhanu Prakash told PTI that Choudhary, accompanied by his supporters, presented two sets of nominations.

With the backing of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje, the Congress defector joined BJP last week and was given a party ticket from Barmer instead of the veteran leader.

Singh had yesterday filed his nomination as an Independent candidate from Barmer and had called Choudhary an outsider, who "had been abusing us (BJP) till recently".

Choudhary claimed he had met the 76-year-old leader a month back when Singh told him that he had not decided about his constituency.

"I met Singh a month back but at that time he had not finalised his constituency. There was no communication between us in recent days," he said.

Targeting Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, Choudhary said the former chief minister functioned in an autocratic manner which delivered an unprecedented debacle in state Assembly polls last year.

Meanwhile, Singh accused BJP president Rajnath Singh and Raje of "cheating" and "deliberately" sidelining him and said it was for the party to expel him if it wants.
