Sonia, Cong bigwigs at Amarinder grandson's wedding reception

Congress President Sonia Gandhi and a host of other party bigwigs attended the wedding reception of former Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's grandson Angad here today.
Angad got married to Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh's daughter Aparajita yesterday at a private ceremony attended by Congress top brass and President Pranab Mukherjee.
Sonia's political secretary Ahmed Patel and Congress general secretaries Janardan Dwivedi and Ambika Soni were also present at the luncheon today and so were former ministers Ashwani Kumar and Pawan Bansal.
A number of Punjab Congress MLAs including former state CM Rajinder Kaur Bhattal were also among the guests. Qadian MLA Charanjit Kaur Bajwa, the wife of incumbent Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee President Partap Singh Bajwa, however, skipped the event.
The reception hosted by Angad's parents Jai Inder Kaur (Amarinder's daughter) and Gurpal Singh at their Tilak Marg residence here comes ahead of expected rejig in the Punjab Congress Committee where Amarinder, Congress Deputy Leader in Lok Sabha, has been leading the rebellion against Bajwa.
Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi was also not present at the reception.
Sonia spent about an hour at the reception and shared the table with Amarinder, Angad, bride Aparajita and her father Virbhadra.
The wedding was held yesterday at Ambika Soni's bungalow on Akbar Road, where President Pranab Mukherjee led the list VVIP guests which included Sonia Gandhi, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit and both Sukhbir Badal and his wife Harsimrat Badal, who belong to the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab.
