Congress President Sonia Gandhi has expressed deepest condolence to the family of Tarishi Jain, the 19-year-old Indian girl who was killed along with 19 others in the Dhaka terror attack, and described the act as a crime against humanity.
In a letter to the victim's father, Sanjeev Jain, Gandhi called for creating an atmosphere against terrorism and said certain events are life are beyond one's control and one has to endure them.
"I have been deeply pained by the brutal killing of your daughter Tarishi in Bangladesh. This is a shocking incident against humanity. Those who perpetrate such crimes cannot be anyone's symapthisers. We will have to create an atmosphere against such violence," she said.
She further said though it is very difficult for parents and relatives to come to terms with this, there is no other way but to maintain patience.
"No amount of consolation can help at such times. Some incidents in our lives are such over which we have no control and with which we have to live," she says in the letter.
"In this hour of grief, I express my deepest condolence to the family," Gandhi said.
Tarishi, a student of University of California-Berkeley, was among the 20 hostages killed by Islamist terrorists during a siege on a cafe in Dhaka's Gulshan area on July 1.
