In a meeting with all organisations of tea tribes community, tea planters and leading thinkers here, the Chief Minister said, "Tea garden community is an important part of the greater Assamese society significantly contributing to economic growth of the state.
"Our government is committed to bring in lasting solution to the problems of the tea community and I am hopeful that with joint initiatives from all of us this will come into reality".
Sonowal further said the government has convened the meeting with an open mind and the suggestions put forth during discussion would be deliberated at length in the ongoing Assembly session.
The Chief Minister also expressed his gratitude to the tea tribes community of the state for their support in overcoming the initial hiccups of demonetisation.
Water Resources Minister Keshav Mahanta, Minister of State for Labour & Employment, Tea Tribes Welfare Pallab Lochan Das, Leader of the Opposition Debabrata Saikia, MPs Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Rameswar Teli, former union minister and tea community leader Paban Singh Ghatowar were present in the meeting.
