An "Emoji" movie is being developed at Sony Pictures Animation.
The studio won a bidding war against two other major companies, Paramount and the home of "The Lego Movie" Warner Brothers, in a near-seven-figure deal for the film, reported Ace Showbiz.
Details on the storyline are still scarce but the script is co-written by Eric Siegel and Anthony Leondis. Leondis is also expected to sit behind the lens for this upcoming untitled project.
Unlike the toy brand Lego which is owned by a Denmark-based company, Emoji is a public domain so it is free to grab.
Following the big success of "The Lego Movie" , Hollywood has been working on similar projects.
"Pixels" which includes the famous video game character PacMan is coming out this coming weekend. "Minecraft" and "Play-Doh" are going to follow next.
