Sony Pictures Entertainment struck by cyber attack

It is not yet clear how the security breach occurred or if significant internal data has been compromised

Sony Pictures Entertainment has become the victim of a large-scale cyber attack.

The motion picture giant's computer systems in New York City, Culver City, CA and overseas offices were shut down by a cyber intrusion on Monday, reported BBC online.

A spokesperson for the corporation said of the incident: "Sony Pictures Entertainment experienced a system disruption, which we are working diligently to resolve."
