Army will soon have its first ultra modern senior citizens' home in Panchkula for the needy among the retired soldiers, Western Command General Officer Commanding (GOC-in-C) Lt Gen K J Singh said here today.
Addressing a function organised by Chandigarh Senior Citizen Association (CSCA) here, he said that at the outset the home will have the capacity to house 60 inmates.
"A proposal to built a similar home at Mohali too, is on the anvil", he said, however adding that the vision could materialise only if the Punjab Government comes forward to assist by offering land for the same.
Applauding the welfare activities being carried out by the Senior Citizens even in the evening of their life, he said that "since a General never loses zest for life, they are all Generals in their respective fields".
