A day after former minister Abdur Rezzak Mollah was expelled from CPI(M), West Bengal Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee today said the day is inching close when only former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and state secretary Biman Bose will be left in the party.
"This is an internal matter of CPI(M). I don't want to make any comment. But a day will soon come when only Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Biman Bose will be left in the party," said Mukherjee.
Announcing the expulsion of Mollah, an unbeaten Marxist MLA since 1972, the state CPI(M) in a statement had stated yesterday that the action was taken against him for "serious anti-party activities and for tarnishing the party's image in the eye of the people..."
Mollah, one of CPI(M)'s key Muslim faces in West Bengal, had repeatedly trashed the party leadership as "incompetent and authoritarian".
