South Koreans avail VoA scheme most

Tourists from South Korea availed the visa on arrival (VoA) scheme the most in October followed by the Philippines and Japan.
While 683 South Koreans availed VoA scheme, 469 and 423 came from Philippines and Japan respectively using the scheme in October, according to Tourism Ministry data.
A total of 2,705 VoAs were issued under the scheme as compared to 1,911 VoAs during the month of October 2013, registering a growth of 41.5 per cent.
As a facilitative measure to attract more foreign tourists, the government launched the VoA scheme for 12 countries -- Finland, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Singapore, Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Laos, Myanmar and South Korea.
However, only one visitor came from Laos and 10 from Cambodia availing the VoA facility.
During January-October, a total number of 21,995 VoAs were issued as compared to 15,770 VoAs during corresponding period of 2013 registering a growth of 39.5 per cent.
