Southern Zonal Council meeting tomorrow in Bangalore

The meeting, to be chaired by Union Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, will discuss some of the important issues concerning the southern states.

The issues to be discussed include security of fishermen, strengthening of drug-control organisations and development of industrial corridor of the peninsular region of Southern States, an official release said.

Extension of high speed rail corridor between Thiruvananthapuram and Mangalore up to Udupi, peninsular tourism trains in Southern Zone, coastal erosion and matters related to police administrations, atrocities on SCs/STs, human-trafficking and re-activating of the Southern Zonal Council are other issues on the agenda, it said.

Representatives of the Governments of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry will take part.
