"SP workers expressed their anger through protests terming hike in diesel prices and cap on supply of subsidised LPG as an anti-people step. The protests were held in all districts on a directive from state unit president and chief minister Akhilesh Yadav," SP spokesman Rajendra Chowdhury said.
He said Congress was more worried about big industrial houses than common man and added that the hike would put additional burden on people as prices of essential commodities would increase.
During the protest, party workers burnt effigies of UPA leaders and raised slogans against Congress, terming it anti-people.
SP general secretary Naresh Agarwal said if need be his party will not hesitate to take any kind of stern steps. "We will oppose this hike and take to the streets," he said.
